Neil Critchley has lined up Heart of Midlothian in a diamond midfield for each of the last six matches.
But he has been without Cammy Devlin for the last six matches.
With the Australian midfielder set to return to the match-day squad for Saturday’s visit to Celtic Park, it could be the opportune moment for another tweak to the shape.
Critchley has not been averse to changing the formation and, given that Hearts will be up against wingers and overlapping full-backs that can be devastating, he may look to a shape that protects his own full-backs a bit more.
That could mean sacrificing one of the strikers, most likely James Wilson, in a switch to a 4-2-3-1. Another possibility is the 4-3-3 that Critchley used at Tynecastle versus Celtic, although we have rarely seen the shape since.
The rest of the team pretty much picks itself, assuming that Jamie McCart is fit enough to play from the start, other than one position.
The right of midfield has been rotated constantly throughout the season. Sander Kartum has been the latest to be preferred but that has been on the side of the diamond.
We have not yet seen the Norwegian play wide right and while he is not as timid as his stature would suggest, we know that Musa Drammeh can put in a defensive shift when playing wide right.
Musa will also provide a threat on the break but Kartum will be preferred if Critchley is looking for players to be brave on the ball and be clever in tight areas.
