Two Heart of Midlothian players have been included in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Lawrence Shankland and Craig Gordon will represent the Gorgie outfit when the tournament kicks off in Canada, Mexico and the United States next month.
There had been doubts over Gordon’s inclusion due to recent injuries, but the goalkeeper has sufficiently recovered to take his place in Clarke’s 26-man squad. The 43-year-old has been part of Hearts’ match days recently, taking part in the pre-match warm-ups with Alexander Schwolow and Ryan Fulton.

Shankland, meanwhile, scored his 20th goal of the season for Hearts in Saturday’s defeat to Celtic, added to the goal he scored in Scotland’s 4-2 win over Denmark to qualify in November. The striker also made the PFA Scotland team of the year as he helped his side to a second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership.
Scotland begin their World Cup against Haiti on June 14 at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, before facing Morocco four days later at the same venue. Clarke’s men complete their Group C fixtures versus Brazil on June 24 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Scotland will play two warm-up friendlies over the next three weeks, starting with Curacao at the end of the month before taking on Bolivia.
