Former Scotland star - and Hibs fan - Pat Nevin believes Heart of Midlothian will 'sneak' the Scottish Premiership title.
And if they pull it off, he reckons it will place the Edinburgh side up there with Leicester City in terms of monumental football achievements.
Derek McInnes' side currently boast a six-point cushion at the top of the table.
Rangers sit second, while Celtic are eight adrift in third, albeit, with a game in hand to play against Aberdeen this evening.
Nevin highlighted the issues fatigue could play during the run-in - and the evidence is already there to show that it could benefit the Tynecastle side.
"Hearts will play 13 fewer games than Celtic and Rangers," he told talkSPORTBET Casino. "But you can see the tiredness. Rangers were absolutely out on their feet, totally out on their feet in the second half against Celtic there. Celtic were absolutely battered out of sight in the first half. And it happened the other way around in the previous game at Celtic Park.
"Hearts have got a really good wee run just now as well. You know, they've got a lot of the big games out the way, so they've got a run of winnable games before the split in the league.
"They've got into this habit, I think since the New Year, five or six 1-0 wins. That sounds awfully like a team I used to know called '1-0 to the Arsenal'. That's one of the ways you can win a league. And Derek McInnes, he‘s organised, so, at the moment, it's in Hearts' hands.
"It's one of the hardest things to make any judgement on now. At the moment, I just get a feeling that Hearts are going to just sneak in there.
"Right as we speak, they've got two big players coming back, Cammy Devlin and Lawrence Shankland are coming back quite soon, and they're doing well even without those two."
Should the capital club go all the way and lift the league title, it will be the first time since the 1980s that a team outside of Glasgow has won the crown.
Nevin believes the achievement would rank next to Leicester City's Premier League-winning campaign in 2016.
He continued: "I was at Kilmarnock really late in my career and we got, I think it was, third or fourth. You can't beat Celtic or Rangers, we always thought, because they've got multiples, 10, 20 times, the amount of money you've got. They've got so much more, you should never ever get near them. It shouldn't be acceptable because they've got so many advantages, crowd, size, money, and money that can pay big wages. I remember once with Motherwell, we were a point away from third or fourth and we were chuffed.
"You look at it now and you think, if Hearts actually win it, it's the best thing that's happened for Scottish football, definitely at least since Alex Ferguson's time, but maybe arguably better than that, because of the percentage differences in money even from those days in the 1980’s.
"So, I think it would be one of the most extraordinary things in Scottish football history, certainly in the modern era, comparable to Leicester."

Nevin, a self-confessed Hibs fan, noted the reaction he got "wasn't great" when he put the question out there if Hibs supporters would be happy "because it would stop the Glasgow Giants for once".
"But it is true that there are some Hibs fans that would put up with it. There are a lot of Hibs fans that have also told me that they're leaving the country if Hearts win the league!. These local rivalries go deep. But in reality, it would be a gigantic thing," he noted.
"Certainly, there have been cup wins, and amazing cup wins, in Scotland. Scottish Cup wins have been staggering and amazing, unexpected and unheard of. But to do it over a whole season against the might of Celtic and Rangers...
"Now, to be fair, Celtic and Rangers have been in turmoil. I know Rangers have had four managers this season, in the four different games against Celtic, wild.
"But they've got it together, and Danny Rohl has done a good job. For Celtic, Brendan Rodgers was there, Martin O'Neill's been in there on two occasions. Yes, they've changed, but they're top managers.
"There's just no excuse at all. Hearts, with their finances, even though they've got great tech behind them, they've got good help from Brighton behind them, it doesn't matter. This is extraordinary. I can't say I hope they'll do it, b'graecause the best team should win it, but it would be a great thing for Scottish football."
