Heart of Midlothian's record-breaking signing Ageu is due to return to the club this week after a spell in Portugal.
The Brazilian midfielder returned to Portugal to undergo the first part of his rehab from a hamstring injury that will keep him out until the new year.
Ageu has been limited to three substitute appearances since he joined the club from Santa Clara in August.
His most recent hamstring injury required a consultation with a specialist in London. They confirmed the player didn't require an operation.
Ageu has worked with the Portuguese FA and will now continue his rehab back at Hearts before being built back up for the second half of the season.
Meanwhile, Calem Nieuwenhof joined in with training on Wednesday, while Beni Baninigime is being lined up for a return to full training ahead of the Rangers, as reported by Hearts Standard.
Nieuwenhof has not featured in the Scottish Premiership this season, while Baningime has been out since the start of Novmber.
"The four boys that have been missing with hamstring injuries are all making decent progress. Nieuwenhof joined in today a wee bit, Beni will do a wee bit tomorrow and then hopefully full training on Friday all being well," McInnes said.
"That leaves just Ageu, who's due back on Friday, I believe and wee Finlay Pollock who's out doing a bit of running at the minute but it's still a couple of weeks away.
"So other than that, I think we're as we were."
On Baningime being involved against Rangers, McInnes added: "Aye, I think that's the hope, that he could be involved. I mean he was quite positive the day again. If there's no reaction to that, then no reaction to the work he does tomorrow, then I would imagine that he would be training fully on Friday.
"If he trains fully on Friday with the rest of the lads, then he would obviously come into my thinking".
Earlier in the day, McInnes revealed that Josh McPake is not currently in the club's plans for the January transfer window.
Hearts hope to secure the St Johnstone attacker on a pre-contract agreement.
